• Mercari first determined its materialities in the winter of 2018, and then revised its materialities in 2021.
• The company’s management uses ESG as a strategic framework to think about the mid- to long-term strategy of its business.
• Its 2021 Sustainability Report outlines 5 major topics:
  • Creating a circular economy/mitigating climate change
  • Diversity and inclusion
  • Local empowerment
  • Safe, secure, and fair transactions
  • Corporate governance/compliance
• At the end of 2021, Mercari announced the formation of its cross-business-division, ESG Committee, which reports directly to the Senior Executive Committee.
